Solution
The main reason why you are seeing this behavior is due to you are using a named-user license and the license has been checked-out on another computer with your user.
Depending on the software or machine you are, you can review if you have the license on another computer with the following steps:
NI Volume License Manager - NI VLM
- Open NI VLM
- Click on the Licenses tab
- Locate the license assigned to the user, and expand the license by clicking in the + at the left
- Select the In Use tab
- If you can locate the user, then the license is checkout in another computer
- You can see the user and computer name where it is being used
FlexNet Publisher (formerly known as FLEXlm)
- Locate the debug log. Its location should be known by the software administrator
- Open the debug log file
- Search for the user in question in the log
- Review that for every OUT line the user has, there is an IN line. OUT means the license was checkout and IN means the license was returned
- If you find OUT lines without an IN afterward for that specific user, then the license is still in use
- The last OUT line will show the user and computer where the license is being used
Client Machines
- Open NI License Manager
- Click in the Network Licenses tab
- Locate your assigned license
- Review the i icon at the end of the line
- A new window will appear, showing the license checkouts
If you see your user listed there with another computer, you can close the software on the previous computer and now you will be able to use the license on the actual computer.
If the steps above did not solve your issue, please review the steps mentioned in
Software Is Unlicensed or in Evaluation Mode Activating from NI VLM Server.
