Why Do I See “Service Expired" or "Not Found” in NI Update Service?

Issue Details

• I'm receiving a NI Update Service message stating that my service has expired or is not found.

• When I try to update my NI software through NI Update Service, I see lock icons next to my software(s). When I click one of these locked entries, I can see this error message: This update requires a Standard Service Program subscription. Service was not found for this product. How do I install these updates?
• When I open the NI Update Service, all programs have a lock next to them. I have an active software subscription license or a valid service agreement (such as the Standard Service Program (SSP)), so I know that I am eligible for the upgrade(s). How do I install these updates?

Solution

This warning prevents NI Update Service from downloading and installing software that you might not be able to activate.

To activate an upgraded version, e.g. from LabVIEW 2018 to 2019, you need an active software subscription or valid service agreement. Patches and driver updates normally do not require reactivation. If you install a software upgrade and do not have a valid license, the software will run in evaluation mode.

If you are unsure about your license status, you can contact NI Support to confirm your license status.

You can remove warning message by following these steps:

1. Open NI Update Service.
2. Navigate to File » Preferences.
3. Check Unlock updates for which service is expired.
4. Confirm the warning dialog afterwards and click OK.

6. After downloading and installing the software, you can activate it by using your serial number through NI License Manager. For VLA/EA users, it will automatically activate through your Volume License Server.
