Issue Details

  • I am using FlexNet (formerly FLEXlm) as a Volume License Server. My client's computer can open and run NI software without any issues, but the NI License Manager shows the software as "unlicensed" or "evaluation". Is this expected behavior?
  • In NI License Manager, both my local and network license tabs display my software as unlicensed. My FlexNet licensing server should provide licenses to my client. Why is this happening?
  • My FlexNet licenses in NI License Manager are not being picked up. Instead, my software appears in evaluation mode. Is this expected behavior?

Solution

Using NI License Manager 4.x and later

This is expected behavior to the way FlexNet Publisher (formerly FLEXlm) interacts with NI's software, NI License Manager will not reflect an accurate activation status for this type of license.

Using NI License Manager 3.x and earlier

Contact your company's software administrator to make sure that:
  1. The licensing request has been accepted by the Volume License Server.
  2. There are seats available on the Volume License Server for the software versions you are trying to activate.
  3. The Volume License Server has the correct Computer ID for your computer and NI License Manager has the correct name for the Volume License Server you are trying to connect in the field shown below:
