VeriStand GUI Lag During Menu Navigation with Operator License

Issue Details

I am using NI VeriStand™ 2021 R2 with access only to the VeriStand Operator system. When I open VeriStand, the graphical user interface is slow and unresponsive. For example, when I move the mouse to the File menu and click it, the action takes about one to two seconds to appear on the screen.

This behavior happens consistently when using a network license. When switching to a disconnected license, the VeriStand GUI responds normally with no delays.

Solution

This behavior is caused by network licensing activity where the system checks for additional VeriStand-related licenses included in the Software Platform Bundle. This can introduce delays in GUI responsiveness.

To resolve or mitigate the issue, follow these steps:

  • Use a disconnected license
  • Disable Software Platform Bundle in NI License Manager
    • Open NI License Manager.
    • Navigate to Network Licenses
    • Locate Software Platform Bundle
    • Disable or block this license.
    • Verify that the VeriStand GUI no longer experiences delays and that unnecessary network traffic is removed.
  • Validate system behavior
    • Restart VeriStand after applying the changes.
    • Confirm that menu interactions such as File respond immediately.
  • Plan for permanent resolution
    • This issue is expected to be resolved in a future release: VeriStand 2027 Q1.
    • Consider upgrading to this version when available for a permanent fix.

Additional Information

The delay occurs due to background license discovery processes triggered by the Software Platform Bundle when using network licensing. Disabling unused license bundles reduces unnecessary communication and improves performance.
