How to resolve the error "Physical channel not specified." reported out when using the NI-Rfmx WLAN MIMO Measurement Interactive Panel to setup WLAN MIMO testing with PXIe-5860?

The PXIe-5860 is a multi-channel VST module that can be used to build a WLAN MIMO test station. According to the RFmx 2026Q2 user manual , after installing the RFmx 2026Q2 software, you can try using the RFmx Waveform Creator for WLAN and the NI-Rfmx WLAN MIMO Measurement Interactive Panel to build the PXIe-5860 WLAN MIMO test station. When you select the PXIe-5860 as one of the two signal spectrum analyzers in the front panel of the NI-Rfmx WLAN MIMO Measurement Interactive Panel software, you may encounter a "Physical channel not specified." error, as shown in the image below.

How can this problem be solved? What is the root cause?

1. Review the NI MAX report and check the software versions (RFmx, RFSA/SG). Ensure that the RFmx WLAN version is 2026Q2 ( the NI-Rfmx WLAN MIMO Measurement Interactive Panel is part of RFmx WLAN ). According to the RD documentation, the RFSG/SA driver first adds TClk support for PXIe-5860 before RFmx WLAN can support 5860 MIMO testing. This indicates that the RFSA/SG driver version cannot be an older version. Although RFmx WLAN 2026Q2 is backward compatible with RFSA/SG version 2025Q3, some new features will be limited. For example, PXIe-5860 WLAN MIMO is a newly added feature that requires a newer version of the RFSG/SA driver.

2. Upgrading the RFSA driver to version 2026Q2 will resolve the issue;

The PXIe-5860 can perform MIMO testing, and the NI-Rfmx WLAN MIMO Measurement Interactive Panel no longer reports errors.
