Solution
This behaviour typically occurs when the DataFinder is processing large files or metadata; you can monitor the indexing progress through the Windows system tray to ensure the task is active. Follow below steps to monitor indexing progress.
- Locate the DataFinder icon in the Windows system tray.
- Right-click the icon and select About My DataFinder.
- Review the status dialog to see the number of files indexed so far to gauge current activity.
While the total number of files copied at once does not significantly impact speed, you should ensure that the .TDX file is available before the .TDM file is indexed.
- Copy the .TDX file into the search folder first, followed by the .TDM file.
- Avoid waiting for the hourglass icon to disappear between individual file copies if you have multiple files to index, as copying them together is acceptable.
