Issue Details

I am currently using a PXIe-8862 (2.6 GHz, 8-core i7 controller) running LabVIEW RT without TPM, and I would like to enable wireless LAN connectivity on this system. I would like to know if there are any recommended or NI-verified wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) adapters that are compatible with this controller and LabVIEW RT environment. Additionally, I am considering using a TP-Link TL-WN725N (150 Mbps Nano USB Wi-Fi Adapter). Could you please confirm whether this device is supported or compatible, and if it can be used reliably with my setup?

Solution

Since the PXIe‑8862 controller is running LabVIEW Real-Time (Linux RT), the use of wireless LAN is not recommended. Wireless connectivity on RT systems is not officially supported and may result in unstable network communication, potentially leading to unintended or unpredictable system behavior.

To ensure reliable and stable performance, it is strongly recommended to use a wired Ethernet (LAN) connection instead of wireless LAN. As a result, there are currently no NI-recommended or verified wireless LAN adapters for use with Linux RT systems.
