NI-USRP Configuration Utility Error: Invalid FPGA Firmware Image File

Issue Details

When trying to update the FPGA image of USRP X410 using NI-USRP Configuration Utility

The following error appears: Invalid FPGA firmware image file. Enter a valid file path to the image file.

Solution

This error is a known issue for NI-USRP 2026 Q1.

FPGA image can be updated using Command Prompt (CMD). Follow the instructions below to update the FPGA image

  1. Open CMD and run the following commands
  2. cd C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\NI-USRP\utilities
  3. uhd_find_devices.exe
  4. uhd_image_loader.exe --args "type=x4xx,addr=<USRP IP address>" --fpga-path "C:\Program Files\NI\LVAddons\niusrprio\1\instr.lib\niUSRP\Reference FPGA\FPGA Bitfiles\X410ReferenceFpga_4ch_4spc.lvbitx"
    Note: The IP address of the USRP will be shown in the terminal output when running the 3rd command.
