Issue Details

When attempting to open a DBC file in the NI-XNET Database Editor, the following error occurs:

An internal error occurred. Please contact NI and provide the logs found in "%LOCALAPPDATA%\National Instruments\NI-XNET\log".

Solution

Check whether the DBC file is stored in a file path that contains Japanese characters. When using the new NI-XNET Database Editor, ensure that the full file path (including folder names) does not contain Japanese or non-ASCII characters, as this may prevent the file from opening.

As a workaround, you can either:

  • Move the DBC file to a directory with only ASCII characters in the path
  • Use the classic NI-XNET Database Editor, which supports such paths
    • The classic editor can be launched from the following location: C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\NI-XNET\editor\XNetDbEd.exe
