COM Class Factory Error When Launching TestStand™

Issue Details

When I try to launch TestStand, I receive the following error:

Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {DEF1D36A-327A-487D-876D-816D0D171888} failed due to the following error: 8007007e The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E).

Solution

This issue can occur if a required Microsoft Visual C++ runtime dependency (mfc140.dll) is missing from the system, which can happen after recent Windows 11 installations or updates.

To resolve this, please attempt the following:

Repair the Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Run-Time package using NI Package Manager by following the instructions in Repair Software in NI Package Manager (NIPM).
If the issue persists, install the latest supported Visual C++ Redistributable versions (both x64 and x86) directly from Microsoft, using the following link: Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable latest supported downloads [EXTERNAL LINK]

After completing the steps above, restart the system and attempt to launch TestStand again.
