Issue Details

We would like to use signals output from the PXIe‑6674T via PXI Trig, DStarB, and DStarC, and then receive and use those signals on the PXIe‑7903. What is the correct way to make this possible?

Solution

The PXIe‑7903 is capable of receiving these signals on the FPGA.

  • PXI Trigger Bus (PXI Trig)
PXI Trig can be routed and used on the PXIe‑7903 by following the routing method described in the documentation referenced below.

  • DStarB / DStarC
The PXIe‑7903 does not support routing DStarB or DStarC through the routing CLIP. Instead, you must access the DStarB/DStarC signals directly on the FPGA diagram using the corresponding FPGA I/O nodes.

Additional Information

When using the PXI Trigger lines, the signal must be routed correctly using the Trigger Bus configuration in NI MAX. For example, to route a signal from a PXIe‑6674T in Slot 10 to a PXIe‑7903 in Slot 2 via the PXI_Trig1 line, the routing must be configured as shown below in NI MAX.

When using DStarB to pass a signal, it is necessary to select the DStarB channel corresponding to the destination slot. For example, in PXIe-1095 to send a signal to a PXIe‑7903 installed in Slot 2, DStarB6 must be used.

Limitation When Using PXIe‑6674T as the Signal Source

However, when using the PXIe‑6674T as the signal source, DStarC cannot be used. This is because DStarC is a resource that the PXIe‑6674T uses as an input, not as an output.
