PXIe-4162 Doesn't Work in Certain PXIe Chassis Slot but Other Modules Do

Issue Details

When I install a new PXIe-4162 into a PXIe slot, it doesn't appear correctly in NI-MAX and the Access LED stays off. Other PXIe modules work in this chassis slot and other PXIe-4162s show up in NI-MAX correctly. Why does my new PXIe-4162 not work?

Solution

Ensure you have updated the NI-DCPower driver to at least 21.8 or newer.

NI-DCPower Download Page

There are two variants of the PXIe-4162: the PXIe-4162 (100pA) variant and the PXIe-4162 (10pA) variant. The 100pA variant was released first and requires a minimum NI-DCPower driver version of 17.6. The 10pA variant was release later and requires a minimum driver version of 21.8.

You can detemine the varaint you are using by looking at the front panel of the module. The PXIe-4162 (100 pA) shows PXIe-4162 12-CH Precision SMU on the front panel and the PXIe-4162 (10 pA) shows PXIe-4162 12-CH 10pA SMU on the front panel.

Additional Information

If updating the NI-DCPower driver does not resolve the issue, follow the NI PXI(e) Hardware Is Not Detected in NI MAX KB for more general troubleshooting steps.
