Issue Details

I recently acquired an NI Linux Real-Time (RT) controller and installed the software on a PC to start programming it. However, when I try to create a new project in LabVIEW using the LabVIEW Real-Time Control (NI-DAQmx) or LabVIEW Real-Time Waveform Acquisition and Logging (NI-DAQmx) sample project templates, error 74 is always generated when trying to create the project as shown below:

Error 74 occurred at Invoke Node in NI_NPW_Project Copying.lvlib:CopyUserProject.vi->NI_NPW_Project Copying.lvlib:CreateUserProject.vi->NewProjectDialog.vi

Possible reason(s):

LabVIEW:(Hex 0x4A) Memory or data structure corrupt.

Method Name: Project:Open

Furthermore, if I try to open a project that already uses a NI Linux RT target, LabVIEW does not display its IP address nor the connectivity indicator (green LED) next to the controller's icon in the Project Explorer Window, and the Properties Dialog Box for the target is completely empty.

Solution

This behavior is caused by corrupted software. To resolve the issue, reinstall the NI software while ensuring that you follow the installation order below:

  1. LabVIEW Development System
  2. LabVIEW Real-Time Module
  3. LabVIEW FPGA Module (optional, only if required by your application)
  4. Any required hardware drivers, such as NI-DAQmx or NI CompactRIO.

Additionally, verify that all software versions you are installing are the same bitness, compatible with one another and supported by your operating system.
