For instance, with NI Serial Hardware such as the NI PXI-8431/16, if the TX+ and TX– lines are shorted together, or if either line is accidentally shorted to ground on one of the ports, will this cause damage to that specific port? Additionally, could such a fault also affect the remaining 15 ports? I am trying to determine whether an accidental short could lead to failure of the entire card or just the affected port.
