Issue Details

When using my Intel or ASUS NUC13 PC, I am intermittently having connection and communication issues with some modules in my Thunderbolt-connected PXIe chassis. What is causing this behavior, and how do I fix it?

Solution

It had been reported and observed that the NUC13 PCs have the ability to put PXIe chassis components and modules into low power states or otherwise disable them intermittently when operating with default BIOS options. This behavior has been reported when connecting PXIe Thunderbolt chassis (such as the PXIe-1090 or PXIe-1083) to the NUC13s or when using the PXIe-8301 remote controller with other PXIe chassis. The most common behaviors include connected hardware not showing up in configuration software after system boot or modules losing the ability to communicate intermittently during system operation.

To resolve this issue, locate and disable the Native ACPI OS PCIe Support configuration setting in the system BIOS.

Additional Information

This behavior is not always present with each host system and PXIe chassis, but has always been reported as an intermittent problem. If you are dealing with consistent boot, chassis identification, or crash issues, then you may need to evaluate other troubleshooting guides or contact NI for further support.
