Use Nigel™ AI Advisor to Run a TestStand Sequence

This article shows you how to use Nigel™ AI Advisor in NI TestStand 2025 Q3 to run test sequences using natural language commands. By following the steps, you'll learn how to simplify test execution, reduce manual effort, and save time. With intuitive prompts, Nigel™ makes it easy to initiate and control test sequences, streamlining both basic and advanced testing workflows.

Environment

• Software: TestStand 2025 Q3 with Nigel™ AI Advisor
• Example Sequence: Computer Motherboard Test Sequence.seq

Steps

1. Open the TestStand application. Make sure you're using TestStand 2025 Q3 or later.
2. Load the sequence file you want to run. In this example, it uses Computer Motherboard Test Sequence.seq, you can find the TestStand Example Programs in this link.
3. Locate the Nigel™ AI Advisor Button, click the Nigel™ AI Advisor button in the toolbar to open the assistant panel. You will find the Nigel™ AI Advisor on the right side of your TestStand. 

4. Log In to Nigel™ AI Advisor, you can follow this link on How to Access the Nigel™ AI Advisor.
5. At the Nigel™ AI Advisor enter a prompt to run the test, you can enter command like run single pass. Nigel™ AI Advisor will interpret the prompt and prepare the sequence for execution.

6. Click the Run active sequence file button. Nigel™ AI Advisor will start the test run.
