Issue Details

I wanted to know whether replacing an SCB-68 with a new unit requires reconfiguration.

Solution

The SCB-68 has both hardware switch and software configuration components:

  • Hardware Switches:
The SCB-68 is configured using physical switches.
When replacing the unit, you should ensure the switch positions on the new SCB-68 match the original.
Incorrect switch settings can cause the SCB-68 to appear malfunctioning.
Refer to Using the SCB-68 with Multifunction I/O Devices for more details.
  • Software Configuration:
The SCB-68 supports a temperature sensor that requires configuration in NI MAX or the Hardware Configuration Utility.
You can select the connected X Series or M Series device and configure its cabled accessory as an SCB-68 to enable DAQmx to use the onboard temperature sensor.

If the software configuration was already correct and the new SCB-68 has the same switch positions, no changes are needed in the software configuration.

Additional Information

Hardware switch settings are critical for proper operation.
Software configuration is only needed for temperature sensor functionality.
