Locating the Older Version of the NI-XNET Database Editor

Issue Details

I installed NI-XNET 21.5.0 as part of the driver install but the NI-XNET database Editor looks visually very different from how it did before. What is the difference between the two versions and how can I get back to the original one?

Solution

 The newer version of the NI-XNET Database Editor has new features added, compared to the older one:

  • Improved performance and responsiveness when opening large databases
  • Improved experience for viewing and configuring the bit layout of Signals, PDUs, and Frames​
  • Improved search performance for large databases
  • Added the ability to configure and manage database aliases

 Both database editors can be used equally. You can find the editors in the following directories:

  • New DB Editor - C:\Program Files\National Instruments\NI-XNET\editor
  • Old DB Editor - C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\NI-XNET\editor
