Issue Details

I intends to implement the connection on Figure 1. Using 2 chassis, a PXIe-1095 and a PXIe-1084. If we connect the 1084 as the master, will there be any bandwidth issues/degradation with the x16 MXI express link? Will it be limited by the chassis backplane?

Does the data coming from the PXIe-1095 will only flow through the PXIe-8399 or will it also pass through the PXIe-1084 backplane affecting the throughput of the system? The module's documentation is unclear about this.

Solution

In this architecture, the bandwidth of the "Master" chassis backplane does not affect the throughput to the "Slave" chassis. The downstream MXI port on the PXIe-8399 is connected directly to the Gen 3 PCIe switch on that card.
