Issue Details

  • I have configured a SystemLink Base instance. What is the expected behaviour in the Licenses page?
  • Under what circumstances will a System or User license be consumed in SystemLink Base?
  • When will a System or User license be freed in SystemLink Base?

Solution

System Licenses

1 System license is consumed per Client system on the Systems Management page. If a Client system is removed from SystemLink, a System license will be freed up.

For example, the images below show that 2 Client systems are present in the Systems Management page, so 2 System licenses are consumed.

User Licenses

1 User license is consumed per Active User. An Active User is a user that has logged into the SystemLink web UI in the last 30 days. A User license is freed after 30 days of inactivity (i.e. no logins) from the respective user.

For example, the image below shows that 2 User licenses are consumed because 2 different users have logged into the SystemLink UI within the last 30 days.

Additional Information

SystemLink Base can be activated locally on the server machine using NI License Manager. SystemLink Base offers 2 types of licenses - Small or Medium:

  • The Small license (appears as SystemLink Base - S in NI License Manager) enables 5 different Users and 10 different Systems at a time.
  • The Medium license (appears as SystemLink Base - M in NI License Manager) enables 10 different Users and 25 different Systems at a time.
