Does SystemLink Require a LabVIEW DataFinder Deployment License?

Updated Jul 16, 2025

Software

  • LabVIEW DataFinder Toolkit
  • SystemLink TDM DataFinder Module

Issue Details

  • I have developed a LabVIEW executable that connects to a SystemLink Server DataFinder Instance. Am I required to purchase a separate LabVIEW DataFinder Deployment License?
  • If I connect to the SystemLink DataFinder Server using LabVIEW code, what license is required?
  • If I deploy LabVIEW executables that connect to DataFinders, do I need a separate deployment license?

Solution

As of LabVIEW 2019, the DataFinder Toolkit VIs are included with LabVIEW by default. This means that a separate DataFinder Toolkit License and DataFinder Deployment License (for distributing LabVIEW executables) is no longer required.

Additionally, if connecting to a SystemLink DataFinder Instance from LabVIEW, the SystemLink Server will handle the licensing requests and a SystemLink TDM DataFinder Module User License will be consumed by your VI or executable.
