Why My NI FGEN Instrument In My Ubuntu System Showing Odd Behavior When I Remote The System Using Windows XRDP?

Issue Details

When I switch my system from Win7 to Ubuntu, I will encounter an initial error on the FGEN as below:

What is causing this error and how to resolve it?

Solution

This is due to using Windows RDP to remote into the Ubuntu system.

RDP is not recommended as it is not supported well with NI software on Linux. We only support a single user session at a time.

Recommendation is for the customer, when remoting, to always use VNC to a Linux system. Alternatively, if they must remote using RDP, to always ensure they are logged out locally first.
