Issue Details

When I try to set my cRIO-9145 to Safe-Operational Mode, I get the following error,

Error -2147138446 occurred at an unidentified location

Possible reason(s):

NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT: The remote target is not responding to EtherCAT RPC requests. Ensure that the NI-Industrial Communications for EtherCAT software has been installed on the real-time controller and that the RT controller is powered on and properly connected. Ensure that the controller is not too busy to respond. Check the thread utilization to ensure that the default thread prioritizations have not been modified.

How do I resolve this issue?

Solution

To solve this issue,

  • Make sure the primary Ethernet Port in the Real-Time controller is not connected to the EtherCAT Slave. The primary port is not supported for EtherCAT communication.
  • If you are not using the primary Ethernet port, right-click the EtherCAT master item and select Undeploy.
  • Right-click the EtherCAT MainDevice item and select Deploy
  • In the LabVIEW Project, right-click your chassis and select Deploy All.
