Issue Details

Projects and programs created in LabVIEW can normally be opened only in the version in which they were developed or later. To make them openable in a version earlier than the development version, you must select Save for Previous Version.

Is there a way to configure LabVIEW so that it always saves for a specific version, instead of performing this operation every time?

Solution

Starting with LabVIEW 2024 Q3, it is possible to always save project files for a specific version.

This allows the project to be saved in a way that it can automatically be opened in the specified version, without manually selecting Save for Previous Version each time.

This setting applies to VIs and other items contained in the target project file.

To configure this setting, open the Properties of the project file.

In the window that appears, specify the Save Version at the bottom of the Project category.

Additionally, make sure to check the box for Separate compiled code new project items.
