Issue Details

I have built a LabVIEW installer that adds a shortcut for an executable to the Start Menu under a folder on the deployment PC. This installer works fine when the deployment PC is Windows 10. The shortcut will appear under a folder. However, when the installer is used on a Windows 11 deployment PC, the shortcut does not appear in the Start Menu under a folder. Is this a bug? How can I have the shortcut appear under a folder on a Windows 11 PC?

Solution

In Windows 11, the shortcut will only be displayed under a folder in the Start Menu if it consists of more than one item. If the folder only has one item, which is the shortcut alone, the shortcut will not appear under a folder in the Start Menu. This behavior is defined by Windows 11.
