Missing Valid Source Distribution Error After Upgrading VeriStand™

Issue Details

I have a VeriStand project containing custom devices that was working correctly in an older version of VeriStand. I upgraded VeriStand to the most recent version, so I needed to also update my custom device code to remove support for deprecated RT targets (such as PharLap) and build the custom device in 64-bit LabVIEW™.

Now, when I try to deploy my project, I get the following error:

Error -307608: The custom device does not provide a valid source distribution for the target specified. Specify a different target or contact the creator of the custom device for further support.

Solution

To fix this error, open the System Definition File (SDF) in VeriStand System Explorer, then remove and re-add the custom devices that are throwing the error. This repopulates the custom device entries in the SDF and updates the source distribution references for the currently supported target types.

Additional Information

If you are reusing a System Definition File (SDF) from an older version of VeriStand, then the SDF may contain hard-coded references to the deprecated RT target types. For example, if the SDF was created in VeriStand 2020 or earlier (when PharLap was still supported), and you added a custom device to the SDF, then the SDF will contain XML tags referencing the file path of the PharLap source distribution. When you then open the SDF in a newer version of VeriStand, it is still going to look for the PharLap source distributions when you deploy, causing the error.
