Solution
Yes. Even without a feed, NI Package Manager can be included in a State to be updated on managed devices. By default, NI Package Manager is subscribed to its own unique feed, in which NI places the newer versions of the package on every release, so SystemLink doesn't need to have a feed for it. All it does is request NI Package Manager to update itself.
However, when the clients don't have access to the internet, this local NI Package Manager feed won't work, you'll need to:
- Replicate the NI Package Feed following these steps.
- Use this URL - https://download.ni.com/support/nipkg/products/ni-package-manager/released
- Follow these steps to add the feed to the client systems and deploy the latest version of NI Package Manager.
Note: In contrast to the rest of NI software, the NI Package Manager is different because it has only one feed that holds every version, which means you never have to update the feed URL. When you use SystemLink to recreate it, simply remember to periodically choose the Update feature on the feed page to keep the new packages in sync.
