What is the maximum RAM capacity of the PXIe-8862?

Solution

PXIe-8862 controller comes with two standard 8GB DD4-3200MHz pre-installed in the two available RAM slot. You can upgrade this by purchasing additional 16GB RAM (788899-01) to replace one or both of the 8GB RAM card to have a total of 24GB or 32GB of RAM.

Additional Information

The PXIe-8862 CPU supports 32 GB DDR4 SODIMM modules, which allows up to 64 GB of total memory when using two 32 GB modules. However, 32GB DDR4 SODIMMs became available only shortly after the release of the 88x2 series, so they were not validated by NI. For this the reason the "maximum" memory documented in the datasheet refers to 2x16 GB, one 16GB SODIMM per-slot.

32GB DDR4 SODIMM modules should work if the following criteria are met, but NI does not guarantee they will function without issues:

• Dual-rank DDR4, 3200 MT/s, non-ECC SODIMM
• Device configuration: 16Gb (2GB x8) [16 DRAM chips on SODIMM to get 32GB]

Despite this potential compatibility, we strongly recommend using NI-qualified memory modules to ensure full compatibility and optimal performance with the PXIe-8862.
