Issue Details

I have installed the NI Vision Builder for Automated Inspection (NI VBAI) and I want to create or import a custom step from LabVIEW. However, I cannot find the VBAI option in LabVIEW tools menu as described in section Generating a Custom Step from a Template (p.23) from the NI Vision Builder for Automated Inspection Development Toolkit Tutorial.

  • Why is this option not available?

Solution

You must ensure you have installed the VBAI Development Toolkit in your PC, for recent VBAI versions it is called VBAI SDK. To confirm this please follow the steps below:

  • Open the NI Package Manager (NI PM) and go to INSTALLED tab
  • Search for the NI VBAI Software and click on the right-side cog.
    • This will prompt the add-ons and additional resources related to the selected software.

  • Look for and mark the VBAI SDK, then click OK to install.
    • You must have installed the same LabVIEW year version to get these packages available for installation.

  • Once the VBAI SDK installation is completed you will be able to see the VBAI option in LabVIEW Tools.
    • You must activate the VBAI Development Toolkit license to use this feature.
