Issue Details

I would like to change the operating system of my PXIe-8881 or PXIe-88x2 from NI Linux Real-Time to Windows 11.
How can I do this?

Solution

It is not possible to change the operating system of PXIe-8862, PXIe-8842, PXIe-8822, or PXIe-8881 controllers from Linux Real-Time (RT) to Windows 11.

To install Windows 11 on a PXIe controller, the controller must be equipped with a Trusted Platform Module (TPM). A TPM is a specialized chip on the motherboard that enhances security by securely creating and storing cryptographic keys. TPMs can be separate chips or integrated into the CPU. The latest version, TPM 2.0, is required for Windows 11.

Upon purchasing the PXIe-8862, PXIe-8842, PXIe-8822, and PXIe-8881 controllers with Linux Real-Time OS, the TPM chip is not included, therefore, the operating system cannot be changed to Windows 11.
