Using NI-VCOM Toolkit to Configure Send Type for CAN Application

Compared to native XNET, VCOM Toolkit supports many other send types except for event and cyclic. This article will introduce how to configure send type with VCOM toolkit.

1. Open the RBSConfig software

There are 2 different ways to open the software

1. 2. Add the VCOM Custom Device in VeriStand. Click Create VCOM Descriptor to open the RBSConfig software. 

2. Add database file

Right-click in the Datapool, then select New Network>>CAN or FlexRay Network. In the pop-up Options window, select Create single network to add the database file.

3. Configure Send Type

Find the frame which wants to configure send type in the Datapool, then right-click on it and select Copy2Config.

Select the frame in the Configuration. At the bottom of Details, you can see the SendType. Choose one send type for your purpose. About the details of SendType, refer to the Transmission Modes in Vehicle Communication Software Suite User Manual.

4. Save as XML.

Right-click on the database file in Configuration, then select Save as XML to save the configuration.

Note: The VCOM Custom Device is called NI:VCOM Starting from VCOM 2023Q3 rather than Provetech:RBS.
