Control Design and Simulation VIs for LabVIEW 2023 and Newer

Issue Details

• I have installed LabVIEW Professional 2023 or newer but the Control and Simulation palettes are missing many VIs. Is this expected?
• Are the Control Design and Simulation VIs automatically installed if I have LabVIEW Professional 2023 or newer?
• How can I use the Simulation, Control Design or System Identification VIs from the Control Design and Simulation Module with newer LabVIEW versions?

Solution

The LabVIEW Control Design and Simulation Module was deprecated in 2023, meaning that the latest version available for download is 2022 Q3. 

With LabVIEW Professional 2023 Q1 or newer, the Control and Simulation palette only includes the PID and Fuzzy Logic subpalettes. The additional Simulation, Control Design and System Identification palettes will not be installed due to the deprecation of the Control Design and Simulation Module.

To use any of the Simulation, Control Design or System Identification VIs, it is necessary to install LabVIEW 2022 Q3 or prior with a matching version of the Control Design and Simulation Module.

Additional Information

It is not possible to copy the Simulation, Control Design or System Identification VIs from an older version of LabVIEW to LabVIEW 2023 Q1 or newer. If this is done, LabVIEW will detect that you do not have a valid license for the Control Design and Simulation Module, and the functions will not appear.
