First, you must decide which VeriStand version you want to use. Then, you could refer to VeriStand and NI Linux Real-Time Base System Image Compatibility to know the compatible Linux RT System Image versions.
Except for the Q4 release, it is effortless to know which Linux RT System Image version should be installed. For example, if you want to use VeriStand 2023 Q2, the Linux RT System Image 2023 Q2 is the only option.
For the Q4 release, you have a couple of options. So you have to know the correspondence between the Linux RT System Image version and the NI Driver version. Once the Linux RT System Image version is selected, all the drivers are confirmed. Through this link, you can check which Linux RT System Image should be installed. For example, if you want to use Vehicle Communication Toolkit 2023 Q3(23.5) in Veristand 2023 Q4. You could select 2023Q4 first, then ni-main to check the VCOM version. It shows that the Linux RT System Image 2023Q4 is the right choice.
If you also want to install the NI-DAQmx driver on the host computer to use DAQmx cards, you can check the NI-DAQmx driver version on the same page. From the following page, it shows that NI-DAQmx 2023Q4 should be installed on the host computer.
If you want to install the Automotive Diagnostic Command Set on the host computer to do the UDS test, but can't find the ni-adcs driver in the ni-main page. Please go to ni-linux-rt/feeds/2023Q4/ni-lv2023. Why not ni-lv2022, ni-lv2021, or ni-lv2020, as the VeriStand 2023Q4 is selected and the VeriStand 2023 determines ni-lv2023. From the page of ni-lv2023, you can find the version of the ni-adcs is 22.8. So you know that the Automotive Diagnostic Command Set 2022Q4 should be installed on the host computer.
Note: To avoid unexpected issues, please ensure that the driver version on the RT target and host computer are the same.
