Issue Details

  • I have daisy chained multiple PXI(e) chassis. What is the correct boot order?
  • When daisy chaining PXI(e) chassis, the slave chassis is not detected when I boot the master chassis first. Is this expected?
  • I am using a MXI(e) configuration to daisy chain PXI chassis. Is there a specific boot order that I need to use?

Solution

When daisy-chaining PXI(e) chassis, it is necessary to boot up the chassis in order starting from the chassis at the end of the chain, moving towards the master.

If using a MXI(e) setup, where the host isĀ  PC with PCI(e) card, the host PC should be the last item to power on.

Additional Information

The chassis number that appears in NI MAX is dependent on the recognition order. Therefore, the chassis number can change if each chassis is identified in a different order.
