First of all, you may need the hardware below to make a physical connection between NI USRP and Host PC:
- Ethernet Cable
- SFP connector for ETH 0 or SFP+ connector for ETH 1
*Note: SFP connectors are not compatible with the SFP+ port, please ensure you are using the correct SFP connector.
Connect the ethernet cable from the Host PC LAN port to USRP ETH 0 as shown below diagram:

Once the connection has been completed power up the USRP and refer to the below steps to verify the connection of the USRP:
- Install NI-USRP software into the Host PC, kindly install the latest version that is compatible with your operating system.
- After completing the NI-USRP installation, you may need to restart the Host PC.
- Ensure the Led A is solid Green meaning the SFP has been connected.
- For Led B make sure it was blinking orange meaning the link has been established between Host PC and USRP, if not you may go to Device Manager and Disable your LAN port then Enable it as in the example below:
- After restarting the LAN port the Led B should blinking orange.
- From the Host PC go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings.
- Right-click on the Ethernet port that is connected to USRP and select Properties.
- Double-click on "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and change the IP address to static: 192.168.10.x (x any other value than 0, 1 and 2). 192.168.10.2 is the default value of the USRP. You can refer to below example:

- After changed to Static IP address, click OK and close the Network Connections window.
- Press the Windows Key and search "cmd" to open the command prompt.
- From the command prompt try to ping 192.168.10.2 to check if there is a connection between Host PC and USRP.
- Once the connection has been verified you can USRP Utility Configuration software and the USRP will be listed as shown below:
