Why is this error occurring, and how do I avoid it?

Solution

This error may occur if the EtherCAT chassis does not have any modules physically installed. First, ensure that the EtherCAT modules are properly installed in the chassis.

If modules are installed and the error persists, verify that the version of the Scan Engine and EtherCAT Custom Device is at least 23.3.

This issue is known to occur with version 23.0 of the Custom Device when used with VeriStand 2023 Q1. To avoid this issue, the recommended solution is to use version 23.3 or newer of the Custom Device. You can do this by either:

  • Upgrading the VeriStand Custom Devices add-on to 2023 Q2 or newer, or
  • Downloading the latest version of the Custom Device from GitHub and replacing version 23.0
