Simulating NI Hardware Not Available on NI MAX

Issue Details

I am currently using the NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) to run some tests with simulated NI Hardware before deploying my application, however, I realized that some Modular Instruments are not available for simulation, is it possible to simulate devices not available on NI MAX?
I want to simulate a PXIe-416x device on NI MAX, unfortunately, the only SMUs available are from the PXIe-414x family, how can I simulate the SMU that I need?

Solution

Not all NI devices are available for simulation nor can be added to the library, however, newer devices such as the PXIe-416x family will likely be available for simulation on the new NI Hardware Configuration Utility, the replacement for NI MAX. To simulate devices in this software follow the instructions given in the Hardware Configuration Utility User Manual (Managing System Hardware)

 

Additional Information

Simulating a PXI chassis before your peripheral module is required to host it. Once you create a new simulated system in NI Hardware Configuration Utility, you can also view it in NI MAX as shown below.
