Issue Details

  • After updating InstrumentStudio to the 24.5 version, now everytime I open the software, it is asking for a license. I do not have one. Can I still access InstrumentStudio?
  • My InstrumentStudio license is now shown as Evaluation in the Product Summary tab of the NI License Manager software. I did not need a license for opening the software prior the update. Do I need a license for using InstrumentStudio from now on?

Solution

The installation of InstrumentStudio starting from the 2024 Q3 version now include the Professional Edition. This version requires a license, but you will still be able to access the Lite Edition, which is free.

The differences between the Professional and the Lite Editions are listed in Select Your NI InstrumentStudio Edition - NI.

In order to avoid the Activation Dialog Wizard, you can click Continue on the Let's Get Started window: IS EVAL Software.png

If you clicked on Start Trial, you can finish the trial period using the Professional Edition features, and you will still be able to use the Lite Edition features after that period.

If you have a Serial Number for the InstrumentStudio Professional software, you may click on Activate and proceed with the activation.
