Does NI-XNET Support Extended Signal Multiplexing in CAN Databases?

Issue Details

I have a Vector CAN database (DBC) file that I want to use with NI-XNET CAN hardware. The database uses Extended Signal Multiplexing. Is it possible to load this database file using the NI-XNET Database Editor and use it on NI-XNET CAN hardware?

Solution

NI-XNET CAN hardware only supports a single-layer of multiplexing, where a frame contains one multiplexer. It does not support more than one layer of multiplexing, such as used in Extended Signal Multiplexing. Trying to load a DBC file that contains Extended Multiplexing will result into NI-XNET Database Editor or using it to open an XNET session will result in an error.
