Why I Cannot Boot Into My NI Phar Lap Real-Time OS or NI Linux Real-Time OS?

Issue Details

I am using a PXI(e)-8840 with NI RTOS and I found out that when I turn on the chassis, the controller is able to startup normally but with a monitor connected to it, I can only see a underscore on the screen without the information of the NI Real-Time OS as below:

Why is this happening and what can I do to solve this issue?

Solution

This is because of the RT boot configuration setting in the BIOS. To boot into the appropriate RTOS, user need to configure it in the BIOS setting.

In the LabVIEW RT menu, change the Boot Configuration to LabVIEW RT as below:

Next, change the LabVIEW RT Operating System to the according Real-Time OS in Boot menu.
