Error -1074097763 When Using a VST

Issue Details

When I try to use my VST for analysis I am receiving an error message when I use the RFmx Soft Front Panel, but I can use without issues Instrument Studio. What is happening?

Solution

This error occurs when the VST or the installed RFmx software does not support the requested measurement or functionality. Follow the steps below.
 
  1. Identify the device capability in NI Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX).
    • Open NI MAX.
    • Select your VST model under Devices and Interfaces.
    • Verify if the device is Generation Only, Analysis Only, or Full Duplex.
    • Generation‑only models cannot perform analyzer functions.
  2. Verify that the requested RFmx measurement is licensed.
    • Open NI License Manager.
    • Under RFmx WLAN, verify the installed licenses (for example 802.11ac, 802.11ax, 802.11be).
    • If you attempt 802.11bn measurements but only have 802.11be, the RFmx SFP will return Error -1074097763.
  3. Use only functionality supported by the hardware.
    • For VSTs with generation‑only capability, avoid selecting Analyzer or Measurement functions in RFmx SFP.
    • If analysis features are required, use a VST model that supports analysis mode.
  4. Use InstrumentStudio if the required operation is supported there.
    • InstrumentStudio may allow basic operations that RFmx SFP restricts due to licensing or measurement‑specific requirements.

 

If measurement functionality is needed that is not licensed or supported by your device, install the appropriate RFmx measurement license or use supported hardware.
