Update the Firmware of the NHR 9400 Controller Board, Power Board and NB

1. Connect your PC directly to your NHR 9400 system using a LAN cable.
2. Close all external control programs running on your PC, including the NHR 9400 Soft Panel

Update Controller Board

1. Open the firmware update utility on your PC, located under Start » All Programs » NH Research » 9400 Series » NHR 9400 DSP Firmware Update, or navigating to C:\Program Files (x86)\NH Research\NHR 9400 Utilities\Nhr9400FwUpdate.exe
   
2. Follow the instructions on the software’s user interface:
   
   1. Power OFF the unit.
   2. Set the OPTIONS Dip Switch #8 to ON. The switch position towards the fan is considered the ON position.
      
   3. Set the AUX SYS ADDRESS Dip Switch #8 to ON. The switch position towards the fan is considered the ON position. Do not change any of the other switch positions. NOTE: In systems greater than 12KW, perform this step on the switch on the auxiliary chassis as well.
   4. Power ON the unit and wait for the LAN LED to light up.
3. Confirm and enter the IP address of the unit and click Connect. The Resource must match the IP address of the Hardware TCPIP::192.168.0.xxx::5025::SOCKET.
4. Verify that the number of chassis and channels is correct. For example, an NHR-9400 12kW will have 1 chassis and 3 channels.
5. Click the Update Controller Board button to update the controller board firmware.
6. Download the firmware from this document and select the MainController9400_Ver_6P400_App.m.hex file then click Open. The entire process generally takes about 3 minutes to download the controller board firmware. When complete a pop-up window will say: Controller download completed successfully.
   
   

Power Board Firmware

1. Click the Update Power Board button to update the power board firmware.
2. Download the firmware from this document and select the UPB9400_Ver_10p01_App.s.hex file then click Open. The entire process generally takes 7 minutes to download the controller board firmware. When complete a pop-up window will say: Power download completed successfully.
   
3. Close the update utility.
4. Return the OPTION #8 and ADDRESS #8 switches back to the OFF state (away from the fan) 
5. Power cycle the unit.

Update NB Firmware

1. With the system powered on launch the Auto Update application from Start » All Programs » NH Research » 9400 Series » NHR 9400 Micro Firmware Update, or navigating to C:\Program Files (x86)\NH Research\NHR 9400 Utilities.
   
2. Provide the IP address or select Find to locate net-burner processors. The NHR 9400 will show the firmware type that is being used on this system. The firmware is either 5270 or 5441; you must select the same firmware type when choosing the firmware file while updating the firmware.
   
3. Click OK.
4. Click Browse.
   
5. Navigate and select the *.s19 file then click Open. There are two types of NB boards Mod5270 and Mod5441, the file to be used depends on the type installed in your system.
6. Press Update, the utility will show a progress bar and a programming complete message when it’s done.
   
   
7. Close the Auto Update utility.
8. Power cycle the unit.
