Calibration Procedure Hangs When Initializing Counter in Calibration Executive

Issue Details

I'm trying to calibrate an NI module in Calibration Executive by using a counter such as the Keysight 53220A; however, the procedure fails and the software hangs when it gets to the "initializing counter" part. 

There is no error code, but the software freezes and the calibration is not completed. 

Solution

This issue has been observed when the counter is connected with an unsupported communication protocol by Calibration Executive. For example, if the counter is connected by USB instead of GPIB. This issue has been fixed with third-party instruments by connecting the instrument by GPIB connection instead of USB (if the third-party instrument supports it).

  • Always refer to the calibration procedure or the third-party device manual for references about supported connections.
  • Make sure you're using a supported counter or that the device is compatible and within specifications to perform calibration.
