Issue Details

When I use E-load PXIe-4051 to test PMIC, I found some high ringing and overshoot (as screen shot below) may damage DUT. What can I do to optimize transient response? So that I can test this PMIC successfully.

Solution

From instruction Using NI SourceAdapt to Optimize Transient Response , try to use the custom transient response to make the response curve better. This is one of the features that we use to differentiate with others.

Basically, push GBW for faster response (don't overdo as then the system will oscillate and you will need to reset it) and use the compensation frequency and Pole-Zero ratio to reduce the overshoot.

For example, connecting the 4151 directly to the 4051 via about 3 feet of cable and tuning from 50mA to 6A using custom transient response. It's a much faster step than what you can get earlier with no overshoot.
