Are NI Drivers Supported on Docker Containers?

Issue Details

  • I'd like to use my NI hardware or software products with a docker container. Is this supported?
  • I encountered the error “A driver kernel module is installed but not running on your system.” On a docker container when trying to install NI Hardware Configuration Utility.

Solution

NI Hardware and Software are not supported on docker containers since they establish an isolated user mode environment. Given that NI drivers consist of both a kernel mode driver component and a user mode library, their functionality is not suited for operation within containers.
