Solution
This issue can occur due for the following reasons:
- If Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) is enabled in the SystemLink Server PC.
- If the SystemLink TDM User Account has not been configured correctly.
Disabling FIPS in the SystemLink Server
FIPS is a security encryption protocol that is required in some cases at government and defense institutions.
Turning off FIPS on the SystemLink Server computer allows those TDM services to start again. Often IT assistance will be required to enable/disable FIPS.

Configuring the SystemLink TDM User Account
If using a
Windows user account in the
NI SystemLink TDM Configuration application, an account with the permissions described below is required.
Note: A
Windows user account is a requirement if using a Microsoft SQL Server connection for the
Resource Manager Service or
Information Audit Service.
- Open the NI SystemLink TDM Configuration application.
- Select the SystemLink TDM User Account tab.
- Select Windows user account and enter credentials for a Windows account that meets the following criteria:
- The account and account password never expires.
- The account has access to network shares used by SystemLink Server.
- The account belongs to a group of local administrators.
- Click Apply to save changes. If prompted to use the account to run a service, click Yes.
- After the SystemLink services restart. verify that the services settings have been configured correctly:
- Open the Windows Services application.
- Scroll through the list of services to find NI SystemLink TDM Account Service.
- Ensure that the Log On As tab lists the TDM User Account configured above.
- If this is not the case, right-click NI SystemLink TDM Account Service and select Properties.
- Select the Log On tab.
- Select This account and enter the same username and password configured for the TDM User Account.
- Click Apply.
- Start the NI SystemLink TDM Account Service.
