Issue Details

I have a chassis and several modules that been slot into the chassis. Recently, I'm facing an issue where the chassis suddenly shut down while running a testing.

Solution

This issue happen because of the surrounding temperature was at high temperature and causing the chassis automatically to shut down when the chassis have exceeded its operating temperature. To solve this issue you can refer to below steps:
  1. Run Self-Test for the PXI chassis in NI MAX.
  2. Power off the PXI chassis.
  3. Unplug power cord of the PXI chassis.
  4. Remove all the peripheral modules.
  5. Perform clean up by remove dust on the chassis for improve the air ventilation of the chassis by referring to each chassis user manual. For example, PXIe-1095 Interior Cleaning - NI.
  6. After cleaning the PXI Chassis setup back your chassis for your testing and change the fan mode to HIGH from the rear panel of the chassis. As example show below:

Additional Information

If the same issue still persists, try to monitor your PXI chassis temperature either via NI MAX or programmatically with LabVIEW . For the VI example you can have it from the related link below. This monitoring will identify whether it's shutdown during the chassis exceeds the temperature limit or not. If yes it was expected issue, else kindly please reach NI Technical Support .
