Error -1 on Aurora Stream Rx, TX

Issue Details

I am using the Aurora streaming shipping example, but this consistently presents the error -1

Error Message from Error Out: TX SIDE
Aurora Stream (NI 6594) (Host).lvlib:Check for Timeout.vi:2350003<ERR>
Timed out waiting for the TX data link to be established. 
Check that the selected port is connected. 
If you are connecting to a different device, ensure that its Aurora core is running.

Error Message from Error Out: RX SIDE
Read/Write Control in Aurora Stream (NI 6594) 
(Host).lvlib:Wait For Good Link.vi:900001->Aurora Stream (NI 6594) (Host).lvlib:Finite Stream Reader (Host).vi

Solution

This issue happens because there is not a good link established between the transmitter and the receiver, to solve this some steps we can try are:
  • Check you are pointing to the right RIO device. 
    • To check this you can select the device on NI-MAX and see the RIO number designated for your device

  • Once the RIO device is checked, check the ports that you are using are correct
  • Check the wiring
    • In case the wiring uses pigtails (usually tagged with Rx, and Tx names) all the cables should be connected, since some lines are used for power, and references, and these are needed. Example:

  • If the cables are connected, check continuity to confirm the cable is not broken
