Issue Details

I have a PXIe-8822/8842/8862 controller housed in a PXIe chassis with the Inhibit Mode feature set to Manual. As soon as I plug the AC power cord, the controller boots, which is expected; but when I command the chassis to shut down shorting the Inhibit Mode pin to ground, the controller gets into a fault state (a red LED on the controller front panel lights) and the only way to reset such state is by pulling the AC cord and connecting it again.

Solution

There was a known issue with the PXIe-88X2 controller series BIOS that affected their behavior when the Inhibit Mode chassis feature was set to Manual.

In order to fix this issue, install the latest PXIe-88X2 BIOS version - There is no known workaround for this issue.

Refer to this article to learn how to upgrade the BIOS version using the file obtained from the previous link.

Alternatively, you could refer to the BIOS installer readme file.
