Issue Details

I am using my laptop/PC with Windows 11 version 22H2. When I tried to connect my laptop with the NI PXIe-8301, NI MAX stops responding and is unable to detect the chassis and instruments after plugging the Thunderbolt cable.

When I try on another laptop with Windows 10, along with the latest version, the same thing happens.

How could I solve this?

Solution

To solve this, disable theĀ Kernel DMA protection in the laptop through the Windows BIOS. After the Kernel DMA protection is disabled, restart the laptop and keep the chassis powered ON and connected to the laptop.

Also, make sure to no hot-plug. Make sure the cable is connected before powering on the laptop and MXI expansion chassis. Power on the MXI expansion chassis followed by the laptop. This may help to mitigate device enumeration issues. If the link LED turns green only when the OS is loading, then it might run into a hot-plug condition and drivers might encounter a rat-race condition.
